The 4th installment of the North Hero Property Taxes for fiscal year 2025-2026 is due on Wednesday, May 20.
Balances not paid by the end of day on May 20 will be assessed with 1% interest and an 8% voter-approved penalty.
Payments can be made in person at the town office located in the lower level of the Community Hall, be securely deposited in the drop box located at the back door of the Community Hall or mailed to: Town of North Hero, PO Box 38, North Hero, VT 05474.

A dedicated resident is sought to join North Hero’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Committee, the group responsible for developing and reviewing the Town’s long range capital plan and annual capital budget. The committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month, 5:30 p.m. at the Community Hall. 
As a committee member, you’ll help guide priorities for infrastructure, facilities, equipment, and long-term town investments; critical work that shapes North Hero’s future. This is a great opportunity to contribute your perspective, support responsible planning, and ensure our community continues to thrive.

Construction is now complete on the town’s new water storage tank. Startup operations will begin during the week of March 16. This will involve bringing the tank online and testing out various operating scenarios.
During this time, customers may experience pressure fluctuations or cloudiness in the water. Any of these conditions will be temporary and of no concern from a safety standpoint. 
The Water Department maintains a chlorine residual throughout the entire system which acts as a continuous disinfectant barrier, protecting water quality all the way to the tap.

The town office will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Selectboard will, however, still hold their regularly scheduled meeting in the Hall at 5:15 p.m.
Water payments are due Jan. 20 - the day after. Payments can be placed in the drop box outside the rear entrance. Other paperwork or business can go in the drop box too.

The town office will close at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24 and will remain closed until Jan. 2.
The town office has historically closed the week between Christmas and New Years based on reduced need for services. This is a great opportunity for staff to recharge and wrap up projects before the New Year.

Help keep our community safe and healthy! The Town of North Hero is seeking a Volunteer Town Health Officer to serve a three-year term. 
Responsibilities include investigating public health hazards and complaints, taking action to prevent or remove health risks, enforcing state health laws and local regulations,  and working with the Vermont Department of Health for guidance and training.
The ideal candidate is community-minded, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. Training and support provided by the Vermont Department of Health.

Station Road will be closed on Monday, Sept. 29.
The Water Department will be connecting the Station Road water main to the new water storage tank. Plan to use Sunset View Road or South End Road as alternatives on Monday, Sept. 29. The North Hero Selectboard has called a special election to ask the voters to decide whether the Town should borrow up to $4.5 million to pay for a new fire station and public works garage. 
The ballots have arrived, and early voting is available. Ballots are not automatically mailed for local elections. You must request a ballot, or come to the town office, if you would like to vote by absentee. You may request a ballot be mailed to you online at mvp.vermont.gov or by contacting the town office at info@northherovt.com or 802-372-6926.
The informational hearing will be held Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Community Hall. Construction of the long-planned water storage tank on Station Road is about to begin. Once completed, the reliability of the distribution system will be greatly improved. Unfortunately, due to the lengthy State permitting process, construction is starting later than originally planned. Due to some of the grant funding received having time constraints, the construction schedule has become critical. In order to expedite the schedule as much as possible, the contractor will be performing some weekend work in July. More information will be provided when available.]]>
