Please join the Recreation Department on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. for an evening filled with tips to find constellations and demonstrations of viewing applications hosted by scientist and award winning amateur astronomer Joe Comeau. Weather permitting, the workshop will conclude with stargazing and laser tour of the evening sky! Please bring large binoculars, if possible. Children must be accompanied by an adult at the event which will be held at the Town Office Community Room, located at 42 School Street Extension in Isle La Motte. Participants will have time to share written work from the class and are encouraged to bring a favorite poem to share. The Isle LaMotte Community Organization (ILMCO) hosted Alburgh children's book author Nicole Latimer and her son Rennon at the Recreational Park last Saturday. Latimer’s book is based off of her son's transition into kindergarten as a non-verbal autistic child. Her mission is to bring awareness to the autistic community one reader at a time.She read her book and answered questions from those in attendance. Latimer read the book to the audience and signed 20 books for area children, parents/grandparents, and local libraries. The free books were sponsored by the Isle La Motte Masonic Lodge. ISLE LA MOTTE – Isle La Motte Community Organization (ILMCO) will host local author and Alburgh resident, Nicole Latimer at the Isle La Motte Veterans Park this Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Latimer is the author of “Need a Friend?” She will introduce you to her sone Rennon and discuss why she wrote the book. Latimer will also read it to the audience. ILMCO and the Isle La Masonic Lodge are the event sponsors and will offer the first 30 families one book for free. Latimer will be available to sign copies of the book. Bring a chair or a blanket to enjoy the reading. If you know or have a child who is considered on the spectrum and want to better understand how to communicate with kids like Rennon, this event and book will be a great learning experience for your entire family. The Isle La Motte Recreation Department will hosting an iPhone Photography Workshop on Thursday, Aug. 29th 6:30 p.m. in the Town Office Community Room. Instructor David Beckett will guide you to enhance your creativity and to develop your iPhone photography skills with a classroom lecture followed by an outdoor interactive photo session, weather permitting. Join ILMCO for the 3rd Annual Isle La Motte Music in the Park at the Isle la Motte Rec Park on Saturday, July 20 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with great live music, food and community. Quadra will be rocking the park from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Bring your dancing shoes. This event is free, just bring a lawn chair or blanket. Onsite donations will be accepted by ILMCO for future community activities and events. Meals available for cash purchase from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. General parking is in the Isle La Motte School (42 School Street) parking lot across from the Rec Park. Did you know that there are fossil-rich tropical marine reefs throughout Northern Vermont and New York? Learn all about how these reefs evolved and see them in person at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Veterans Park where the Isle La Motte Recreation Department will host Dr. Anthony Fowler who will lead a discussion and tour of the island. Please note that driving, walking, and standing will be required and there is a suggested donation to benefit the Recreation Department of $10 per adult participant.
